An AI consultant who actually ships.
Most AI consultants leave a slide deck. We leave production systems your team owns. Senior engineers embedded in your team on a monthly retainer. Bases in Derby, Nottingham, Norwich and London; on the ground nationally.
Most businesses do not need another AI strategy. They need an AI consultant who can sit with the operators, find the workflows that are bleeding money, and ship the systems that fix them. That is what Moonlabs is.
We are operators. The same team running Homemove, home.co.uk and homedata.co.uk — three operating businesses we have rebuilt around AI over the last three years. We bring that same stack and that same way of working into yours.
Engagements are a monthly retainer plus transparent hourly delivery. Most pay back in the first quarter. No partner-track sales cycles, no four-month onboarding, and no junior account manager forwarding emails between you and the engineer.
You get the consultant, not their team
James and Louis on every engagement personally. No associates, no offshore handoff, no middle layer. The hours you buy are the hours we ship.
A consultant who builds
We diagnose, then we build. Real production code wired into your data and controls — not a board pack or a maturity model. If it cannot be shipped in the engagement, we will tell you on the first call.
A consultant who pays for themselves
We start with the workflows draining the most hours and pounds. Most clients save more in the first quarter than the entire engagement costs.
Common questions.
How is Moonlabs different from a traditional AI consultant?
Traditional AI consultants advise. We build. The deliverable is live software running in your business, not a slide deck or a maturity model. We are operators ourselves, so the recommendations are tested against three of our own companies before they reach yours.
Can I just hire an AI consultant for a one-off project?
Yes. Every engagement starts with a focused diagnostic that itself is a defined piece of work. From there, most clients extend into a build, but we will not pressure you into a long retainer if the brief is short.
What does an AI consultant cost in the UK?
UK freelance AI consultants typically charge £500–£1,200 a day. We work to a monthly retainer plus transparent hourly delivery, so you can see exactly what is being built. The rate is quoted on the first call once we know the shape of the work.
Do you do remote AI consulting or on site?
Both. We are based in Derby, Nottingham, Norwich and London and travel nationally. Phil, our delivery lead in Nottingham, covers the Midlands, the North, London and the South on the road. The first diagnostic is almost always in person — operators tell the truth at the desk that they will not put in an email. Build sprints mix on-site days with focused remote work.
What kinds of businesses hire you as their AI consultant?
Owner-managed SMBs, scale-ups and mid-market firms with real revenue. Property, professional services, finance, recruitment, legal, and other ops-heavy industries are the natural fit.
How engagements work
Diagnose, build, operate. The full Forward Deployment offer covers structure, pricing model, and what you actually walk away with.
