Brief us
Why this shape

Your customers find you on a phone, in a van layby, after a leak.

A tradesperson’s website is not a brochure — it is the five seconds between a panicked customer Googling "emergency plumber near me" and a phone ringing in your van. If the page does not load on a one-bar 4G signal, if the call button is buried under a hero image, if the customer has to scroll past three carousels to find your service area — they have already hit back and tapped the next result. We design the entire site around the moment of intent: phone number visible without scrolling, postcode coverage in the first fold, credentials next, gallery and reviews further down for the customers who shop slower.

The £99 / month is what keeps the site current after launch. New trade added — you do not pay a developer. Price list updated — you do not pay a developer. New van photo for the gallery — you do not pay a developer. WhatsApp us the change and we ship it. We have been building and running web infrastructure for our own UK property businesses (Homemove, home.co.uk, homedata.co.uk) since 2023; the trades site is the same stack, run by the same operators.

What a trade site needs

Six things we build into every trade site.

Click-to-call, no scroll

Your mobile number is a real tel: link in the navbar and a thumb-sized button in the hero. On mobile it dials straight from the page; on desktop the number is large enough to read across a kitchen.

One-thumb quote form

Short form: name, postcode, trade, brief description, best time to call. Lands in your email and (if you want) WhatsApp. No multi-step wizards, no captchas customers fail, no fields for budget bands you will quote in person anyway.

Real service-area coverage

A clean postcode map of where you actually travel — not a vague "Midlands" or "across the South East". When a customer’s postcode is outside the zone, the page says so politely and offers a callback if you cover further on quotes over a threshold.

Credentials with numbers

Gas Safe / NICEIC / FENSA / CHAS / SafeContractor / public-liability badges with the registration number and renewal date. Customers and insurers can verify them. We ask for the certificate before we put the logo on the page.

Before-and-after gallery

Side-by-side photos from real jobs you’ve done, with a one-line caption. New shots get added under the £99 / month — WhatsApp us the photos and we crop, compress and slot them in by the next morning.

Reviews where they convert

Trustpilot, Google, or Checkatrade widgets embedded near the call-to-action, not buried in a "testimonials" page no-one clicks. Hand-written testimonials get a clean wall with the customer’s town and the job done — not a fake stock photo.

From enquiry to booked job

What happens between a Google search and a booked job.

A six-step path. Most trades lose customers somewhere in the middle. The site is designed so they don’t.

Step
01

Search

Customer types "[trade] near [town]" into Google on a phone, often one-handed, often urgent. Your page needs to be in the local pack or organic top three, and load before they hit back.

Step
02

Land

The hero shows the trade, the area, the phone number and the credentials in the first fold. No carousel, no autoplay video, nothing that pushes the call button below the thumb.

Step
03

Decide

Customer scans for: do you cover their postcode, are you Gas Safe / NICEIC / insured, are recent reviews real, does the gallery show jobs like theirs. All four answered without scrolling more than once.

Step
04

Contact

Customer either taps tel: to call you directly, or submits the short quote form. Form lands in your email, optionally WhatsApp, optionally a Slack DM. No customer portal to log into.

Step
05

Quote

You ring back from the van, or reply with a rough range. The site is not pretending to be your CRM — it is a credible front door that hands you a hot lead with the right context.

Step
06

Booked

Job goes in the diary. If you want, the same site offers an online booking page for routine jobs (boiler service, EICR, gutter clean) so repeat customers don’t need to call at all.

The whole site is a six-step funnel. Every band on the page is doing one of those six jobs. If a band is doing none of them, we cut it.

How it works

Brief on Monday. Live by the end of the week.

01

Brief

Half-hour call in plain English. Which trades, which postcodes, which credentials, where the phone rings. We will draft a one-page spec back inside the same day for you to sense-check on your phone, in the van.

02

Build

Design, copy, build and deploy across one working week. Staging URL by mid-week for a 15-minute review. One senior operator end-to-end, no agency middle layer, no design-by-committee.

03

Run

£99 / month from launch onwards. New service, new postcode, new van photo, new review — email or WhatsApp it, we ship it. No ticket, no hourly clock, no separate "support team."

Hundreds of unique website designs floating against a moonlit night sky — every one designed to its own brand, none templated.
Designed to spec

A million ways this could look. None of them templates.

Every site we build is designed to spec, branded for one client. No shared theme between brands. No component kit we recycle. Your site won’t look like anyone else’s because nobody else got your brief.

  • Designed to spec. Every page laid out fresh against your brief — not a pre-made template with your logo dropped in.
  • Branded to you. Typography, palette, motion language and component shape all chosen for this brand, not a previous client’s.
  • Yours forever. Code lives in a git repo that is yours from day one. No platform lock-in, no proprietary CMS, no exit fee.
FAQ

The tradesperson’s questions.

Can the "Call now" button just ring my mobile?

Yes — that’s the default. The phone number on the site is a real tel: link that rings your mobile (or a dispatcher’s mobile, or a rota of mobiles) the moment a customer taps it. We can wire it through a tracking number if you want call-source analytics, or keep it as your raw mobile number so calls show up in your normal call log. No virtual switchboard required.

What credentials and accreditations can the site display?

Anything you actually hold. Gas Safe, NICEIC, FENSA, CHAS, SafeContractor, TrustMark, Master Builder, City & Guilds, public liability and employers’ liability certificates — we drop the logo, the registration number and the renewal date in a credibility band on the home page and your service pages. We do not invent accreditations and we will ask for the certificate before we put a logo on the site.

Can I plug in my Checkatrade, Trustpilot or Google reviews?

Yes. Most trades sites pull either a Trustpilot widget, a Google Reviews badge, or a Checkatrade rating block on to the home page and service pages. We embed whichever you actually use; we do not mock up fake reviews. If you have hand-written testimonials from past customers we will design a clean wall for those too, with the customer’s town and the job done.

I’m out on site all day — how do I see enquiries?

Quote requests land in your email and, if you want, as a WhatsApp message via a Twilio or 360dialog hook. The form is short by design (name, postcode, trade, brief description, best time to call) so it works on a Bovingdon-grade signal and you can read it between jobs. We can add a SMS notification or a Slack DM as a £99 / month inclusion.

What if I cover more than one trade?

Common. Most firms we build for are at least two of: plumbing, heating, electrical, joinery, decorating, roofing, drainage, locksmithing, glazing. We give each trade its own service page with its own credentials, its own typical jobs and its own pricing tier where relevant — under one brand, with one shared home page that lets a customer choose the trade they actually need before they make the call.

What if I want to take the site somewhere else later?

You can, any time. The code lives in a git repository that is yours from day one. Cancel the £99 / month with one month’s notice and we hand over the codebase plus deployment instructions; another developer can take over from there. No exit fee, no stranded content, no platform you cannot leave.

A site that earns the next call.

Tell us which trades you cover and where you travel. If we’re a fit, we’ll come back inside 24 hours with a one-page spec.
