The Anthropic API. Past hello-world, into production.

Moonlabs is what we are. Two operators — James Freestone and Louis O’Connell-Bristow — who run Homemove, home.co.uk and homedata.co.uk. Claude is the default model behind most of our customer surfaces; the prompt-caching, tool-use and observability patterns on this page are the ones we run every working day, not pages out of the docs.

Why this page exists. Most engineers’ first encounter with the Anthropic API is ‘curl a JSON body, parse the response, done’. That gets you to hello-world. Production Claude is a different discipline: structured outputs that validate downstream, tool use that retries without looping, prompt caching that survives a token-counter change, streaming the front end can consume, observability that explains what the model decided, MCP integrations where the protocol earns its place. You leave the Academy with an Anthropic integration in production for paying users — or as the founder of a Claude-backed product riding the wave Anthropic itself is funding at $61bn.
